EC Power Company Profile

EC Power was formed in 1994 by Danish civil engineers with many years experience in heat and power technology. In Denmark, large scale CHP systems have been in operation for more than 50 years, today covering approximately 60% of all households.

This has created an unsurpassed level of national experience and refinement. Denmark is considered to be the world leader in energy management and in this highly demanding market place, EC Power is the unrivalled market-leader in the research, development, manufacture and operation of micro power plants.

EC Power has logged more than 1,000,000 hrs of system operation in a diverse range of applications, from farming to housing projects.EC Power is partly owned by Statoil ASA, the worlds fourth largest supplier of energy, this gives EC Power the secure financial platform for future expansion and development.

Bridging the Gap to the Future
Sustainability is the key word for future energy production. Eventually, the energy system will have to be sustainable by available resources, the environment and the economy.

The only viable approach is to maximise system efficiency (distributed production) and to utilise a wide array of resources, including unpredictable renewable resources, such as wind turbines.

This makes system optimisation critical - not only for the future but for every step along the way - a substantial challenge, as the increasing complexity of the system will gradually rule out traditionnal centralised control.

Therefore, the future of distributed production calls for equally distributed intelligence and responsibility.

EC Power's systems are constructed to be part of this future and to bring it about. They are constantly optimising their energy production with regards to site loads and the system already possesses a built-in potential to respond intelligently to outside demands, such as future real-time electricity markets.
